Yazd is a city in center of Iran, in the heart of great "Kavir" (desert/Sahara). The hot dry weather, isolation from other cities, hard working people, honesty and simplicity, hospitality and warmth are some of the characteristics of Yazd. When I purchased something from a pharmacy and paid a 1000 bill instead of a 100 bill, the store boy ran after me for a long way to pay me back the change. A phenomenon I would call "endangered species" elsewhere in Tehran! The historic part of town is well protected and preserved by the authorities. I took a short walking tour one early hot morning. There, one sees a harmonious dance of adobe domes, wind towers, blue minarets, and arcs in the snaking dusty, narrow alleys. Here are some photos of this simple beautiful architecture wonders:
